The Defibrio defibrillator provides life-saving technology in a small, user-friendly device that is powered by a smartphone. There are two main advantages to combination of the device and a smartphone:
- Unlike most commercial AEDs, there are no batteries in the Defibrio device that need ongoing charging, maintenance, or replacement. Modern phone batteries have more than enough power to provide the needed shocks. (See the next section for details on device requirements.)
- The Defibrio app provides step-by-step guidance in an emergency, including calling emergency services, providing shocks if needed, and instructions on performing CPR.
The Defibrio app also provides training resources, access to medical data if it’s used in an emergency, and more.
